(Unless you play levels by the creator "Serponge.") It is a simple, blocky, rhythm-based platforming game.

Just in case somebody wants to go and not install the game because the saw "mostly" in my title :P WARNING: DO NOT READ THE TITLE AND PASS BY THE COMMENT. Overall, although this game may be frustrating, I've made lots of amazing people whom I play and collaborate with in playing and creating, and I will always love this game! The community is fun mostly and you should be safe if you stick to YouTube and stay away from Discord and drama until you're older. The editor also allows kids to BE CREATIVE and share their work with others.
The level creator is the exact same one the dev uses (unlike most indie platformer games) so all developer levsl can be perfectly recreated in the editor. This is amazing as you can disable account posts, level commments so your child can't see the hateful words (if there even are any) or only allow featured levels, which have passed the developer/moderator's careful filtering and have been deemed the best in the game. The player base is mostly kids and teens so there isn't too much swearing, and players who cuss or make hate comments can be blocked (which is really effective) or reported.įurthermore, Geometry Dash even has its own PARENTAL CONTROLS.
#GEOMETRY DASH ONLINE OFFLINE#
I attempted the level on and off for TWO YEARS (teaches kids perserverence) and when I beat it I was truly over the moon!Īlso, some adults have argued that there is a lot of swearing in level comments, but since Geometry Dash is mainly offline and single-player, this swearing is not very commonplace and seen only in comment sections. I'm quite an experienced player and can vouch for this.Īt one point I was playing a level called "Cataclysm", which may seem to suggest gore and violence, but it's really just a really difficult level (hence the "cool" name), and it was one of THE hardest levels in the game at the time, with only the most exceptional players beating it. The only two causes of worry are children who have ADHD/ODD or parents who are unable to limit their child's playtime.ĭespite the game being frustrating, the sense of satisfaction is amazing when you complete a level you've been attempting for a whil. This game has absolutely NO ties to drugs, alcohol, smoking, sexual themes (despite some level names SEEMING to suggest such themes), or anything of the sort that parents should be worried. I've played it for 5 years now, and I love this game. I think this game is one of the best, despite some levels having creepy themes the game is reletively well over-seen by its one-man develepor team. The following was written by my 13 YO son, but I think this is good enough for adult consideration. I mean come on it is brightly colored and not scary at all my nephew (4 years!) thinks its cool and is definitely not scared.Ĥ) concerning the difficulty of levels, you as a parent can go online and find some easier ones (even automatic ones where you don't have to press anything) and by doing that the child will eventually get better allowing him to progress to more difficult stages. This is a great game for kids, teens and adults alike! The parents with problems about this mostly aren't even monitoring their child well enough.ġ) Levels with names such as "bloodbath" are levels which can only be accessed by looking at the online levels, and is difficult to find without searching for it.Ģ) Parents concerned about comments with swearing didn't look at the settings to find a parental controls panel in which you can disable comments, disable the user from being able to comment and only show featured levels to avoid any levels with profanities being shown.ģ) The "demon" icon for difficult levels.
